MADISON-John H. “Mack” Michaelis, age 84, of Madison, died on Saturday, Nov. 24, 2018, at home due to complications from congestive heart disease and diabetes. He was born on Jan.

23, 1934, in Madison, the son of John and Jannette (Christianson) Michaelis. Mack graduated from Central High School. He married Naoma Pursell on Sept.

27, 1952 in Madison. Mack worked at the Madison Post Office until retirement. He loved sports and enjoyed participating in them and watching them.

Mack is survived by his wife, Naoma; daughter, Deborah Michaelis and children, Kami and Connie; daughter, Denise (Larry) Bittner and children, Ben and Sam; daughter, Peggy Murphy; son, Dennis (Darleen) Michaelis and children, Matthew, Eric, and Sarah; brother-in-law, Marvin (Kathleen) Pursell; sister-in-law, Wilma Zahalka; brother-in-law, Clifford (Bonnie) Pursell; sister-in-law, Eleanor Moriva; sister-in-law Marilyn Pursell; sister-in-law Marge Pursell; 7 grandchildren; 9 great-children; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Marilyn Mitchell; and grandchildren, Allison Bittner, Tony Michaelis, and Patrick Murphy.

A Celebration of Mack’s Life will be held at MESSIAH LUTHERAN CHURCH, 5202 Cottage Grove Rd. , Madison, at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 30, 2018, with the Rev.

Jeff Vanden Heuvel presiding. Visitation will be held at church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, the American Heart Association, and to Messiah Lutheran Church.
