John (Johnny) M. Hammond, 70, of Jamestown, passed Monday, July 23, 2018, following several years of poor health. Born in Greene County on March 27, 1948, he was the son of the late Jennings and Alice Cartwright Hammond. John attended Greenview schools, excelled in playing basketball and loved nature.

He enjoyed fishing, camping, finding antiques, the Cincinnati Reds, and sharing stories with his children and grandchildren. He had great faith and love for God and his family. John is survived by his wife of over 53, Linda Perry Hammond.

The two were married on January 30, 1965. Also left to cherish his memory are daughters: Julie (Joe) Kingery of Sabina and Joy (John) Stewart of Cedarville; son, Nick Hammond of Jamestown; grandchildren: Lisa (JB) Tompkins, Shannon (Adam Wilson) Kingery, Caitlin (Matt Taylor) Kingery, Jonna (Nathan) Raffel, and Jordy (Kaycee Eastep) Stewart; great grandchildren: Tristan, Leighton, Jace, Graysen, Adalee, and one due in November. Also surviving are siblings: Connie (Terry) Bradley of Sabina and Wayne Hammond of Bentonville; sister in-law, Glenda Brown of Jamestown; along with several cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by his mother and father in-law, Blossom and Glenn Perry; brother, Billy Hammond; brother in-law, Keith Perry; and sisters in-law Judy and Opal Hammond. Family will receive friends at Littleton Funeral Home, Sabina, on Saturday, July 28, 2018, from 11am-12Noon, when a funeral service will begin. Burial to follow at Sabina Cemetery.
