John Joseph Riggs “Jack”, 91, passed away at home Sunday morning February 10, 2019 in the presence of his wife, Anna, and sons, Patrick and Michael. He is preceded in death by brother Phil Riggs, sister, Mary Ann Carrol; daughters Debbie Riggs, Lisa (Bill) Shepherd, and Lori (Rob) Bisciotti. He is survived by brother Paul Riggs; sons Patrick (Dee) and Michael (Sue); grandchildren Tim (Anna) Riggs, Tracy (Tony) Shroyer, Teri (Shawn) Parsell, Jessica (Scott) Newbury, Tyler (Kate) and Andrew Shepherd, Lindsay and Taylor Riggs, John (Brittany) Riggs, Ashley and Annika Bisciotti; great-grandchildren Idona Riggs, Jameson Goldammer, Alanna, Connor, and Hailey Riggs.

Jack was a 21 year veteran of the United States Navy, serving in WWII, the Vietnam War, and the Korean War. He retired from the Navy in 1967 and then worked for the State of Ohio for 20 years. He was a practicing Catholic and parishioner of St. Cecilia (Columbus), St. Peters (Monitcello, KY), and St. Brendan (Hilliard).

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and served as a Grand Knight for the Immaculate Heart Council #5899. He and Anna retired to Lake Cumberland in Kentucky and spent 30 wonderful years on the lake enjoying their houseboat and watching the boats go by while drinking Keystone Light on the deck. Friends may call at JERRY SPEARS FUNERAL HOME with CREMATORY, 2693 W. Broad St., Wednesday, 4-6 PM.

Military honors will be presented at 6:00 PM with prayer service following at 6:15 PM with Father Bob Penhallurick officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to OhioHealth Hospice or The James Cancer Hospital.
