John J. Wall, Jr, Esq. passed away suddenly at home on Saturday, May 4th, with his family at his side. John was 69.

John was born in Meriden, CT on May 25th, 1949, the son of John and Emma (Noss) Wall. He grew up in Wallingford, and graduated from Xavier High School Class of 1968. John attended Georgetown University in Washington DC, graduating in 1972 and went on to law school at Stetson University in St. Petersburgh Fla.

He was very proud of his Alma Maters, and enjoyed many long-lasting friendships from his time at university. John was licensed to practice law in Florida, and Connecticut, but ultimately settled in Vermont. He began his career clerking in Hardwick, then opened his own practice on Depot Street in Lyndonville which he maintained for over 30 years.

He closed the practice in 2013. A consummate bachelor, John lived with his beloved mother, Emma, who recently predeceased him. John had a passion for classical music and was well versed in classic literature, capable of spontaneously quoting lines of Shakespeare or Virgil.

He very much enjoyed spending time with his family, especially playing chess with his great-nephews and going out to dinner together. John, a devout Catholic, found his strength in his faith as a member of Saint Elizabeth’s Parish. John is survived by his sisters: Kate Wall of Lyndon, Dr. Mariann Bertolini (Mark) of Kirby; his nieces and nephew: Shawn P. Tester (Loralee) of Lyndon; Dr. Kelly O’Neil (Dr. Erin Kennedy) of Atlanta Ga; Alivia Bertolini (Brad Libby) of Kirby; five great-nephews and niece: Timothy & Patrick Tester of Lyndon, Wilder, Wyatt and Westerly Libby of Kirby, as well as his extended family in Connecticut and special friend Monica Costlow of Aston, PA.

Calling hours will be from 5 to 7 PM on Friday May 10th 2019 at the Guibord-Pearsons Funeral Home on the corner of Main and Center streets in Lyndonville; all are invited to join the family at a Mass of Christian burial on Saturday May 11th at 12 noon at the St. Elizabeth’s Church in Lyndonville with a private burial in the family cemetery later in the Spring.
