John E. “Jack” Wangler, 90, of Tiffin, passed away on Tuesday evening, September 4, 2018 at Elmwood at the Shawhan. He was born on March 23, 1928 in Buffalo, NY to Emil and Viola Wangler. Survivors include his son, Russell (Laura) Wangler of Columbus; daughter-in-law, Michele Misko-Wangler of Chagrin Falls; grandchildren, Alexis, Brooke, Mackenzie, Emily, Tommy and a brother, Gerald Wangler.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son, David W. Wangler and two brothers, William and Jim Wangler. Jack was an usher and devout member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and graduated from high school in New York and from State University of New York College of Buffalo. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and after returning home, he worked at American Standard in New York as a Draftsman and as Personnel Manager for American Standard in Connecticut and in 1972, settling in Tiffin and retiring from American Standard 1991 as Personnel Manager.

Jack volunteered and belonged to everything including Tiffin Rotary Club where he held many offices and received numerous awards for his outstanding commitment to the club, Junior Achievement advisor and past President, past President of Tiffin Seneca United Way and Ambassador for the Chamber of Commerce. Throughout the years, Jack received many awards and recognition for his dedication to social clubs and organizations. He was an OSU fan, enjoyed golfing and a great Martini at 5:00 sharp!

Jack will be remembered for his infectious smile, his gift of conversation, his unrelenting service and kindheartedness to everyone. He was here 90 short years, but accomplished so much. His Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev.

Joseph Szybka officiating. A Rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to Mass. Burial will be at a later date in New York.

Friends may visit with the family from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. on Friday, September 7, 2018 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424. Memorial contributions may be made to Catholic Charities, ccdocle.org or to a local social club or organization that Jack dedicated so much of his time.
