Obituary for John “J.B.” Lamkin John “J.B.” Lamkin, 81, of Collinsville, Virginia, passed away Sunday, July 22, 2018. He was born May 27, 1937 in Galax, Virginia, to the late Claude and Helen Leftwich Lamkin. J.B. was a graduate of John D. Bassett High School.

He served in the United States Army from 1959 to 1962. He was a charter life member of Good Sam Club and Piedmont Dive and Rescue Association. After a long and varied career from DuPont, he retired in 1992.

He was named an Honorary Member of Fraternal Order of Police; and received letters of appreciation for volunteer work for Martinsville and Henry County Social Services Department, Fraternal Order of Police, Memorial Hospital, and two local Nursing Homes. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Collinsville. J.B. is survived by his wife of 60 years, Winona Lamkin; daughters Jennifer (Stephen) Youngman and Melanie (David) Catron; brothers, Ralph (Donna) and Robert (Uschi) Lamkin; grandchildren, Heather (Kevin) Foster, Victoria (Bradley) Jenkins, John (Amilie) Catron, Elizabeth Catron; and great-grandchildren, Nathan and Ashton Jenkins.

The memorial service will be Thursday, July 26, 2018, at 7:00 PM at Wright Funeral Service Chapel with visitation one hour prior to the service. The family requests no flowers.
