OBITUARY John Jennings November 10, 1929 – September 25, 2018 NEW LONDON – John M. Jennings, 88, passed away on Sept 25, 2018 in New London. He was born in 1929 to Clifton and Eva Jennings in Rutland, Vermont. John was the next to youngest of three siblings: George (deceased), Mary Carlson (deceased), and Therese Bailey.

The family moved to New London during WWII for employment at EB. He is survived by four of his five children: Debbie, Linda, Bonnie and Brenda. John was sadly predeceased by his eldest, John.

There are numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. After serving in the Connecticut State Guard and the U.S. Marine Reserve, John became a professional middle weight boxer. He became acquainted with Jack Dempsey from whom he received a signed note of encouragement.

His working life included employment at Pfizer, Morgan & White Appliance, Millstone 1 construction and General Dynamics which afforded him travel to Spain, Hawaii, Scotland and Florida. An avid sports fan, John was a Yankee aficionado. He enjoyed golf, camping in northern New England, and car and horse racing.

He frequented the VFW, American Legion, and RAFA Club. John was caring and fiving to his friends, especially his best friend Cynthia Suntup. At John’s request, there will be no memorial services.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Heart or Cancer funds or the CT Humane Society. The Montville Funeral Home of Church & Allen is assisting the family with these arrangements.
