Obituary for John Peyton Strength, Jr Mr. John Peyton Strength, Jr. 93, of Douglasville, GA passed away Sunday, April 29, 2018. He was born May 13, 1924 in Marshall, TX to the late John P. Strength & Mary Elizabeth Wyatt Strength.

After graduating from high school, John attended college for a year before he felt the call to join the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a Marine pilot in WWII in the Pacific theater where he flew Corsairs in China and surrounding regions. John was the first Marine Corps officer on the shore Incheon at the onset of the Korean War.

After he left the service, he sold advertising for radio and television in the Texas markets and later bought and sold radio stations in Georgia, Oklahoma, and Wyoming. The funeral is Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at 11 o’clock graveside at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 656 Roscoe Road, Newnan, GA 30263 with Dr. Joel Richardson officiating. The visitation is Tuesday evening between 6-8 at McKoon Funeral Home, 38 Jackson Street, Newnan, GA 30263 Condolences can be expressed online at www.
