John M. Talarico, 93, of Monessen, passed away unexpectedly on Monday Nov. 5, 2018 in U.P.M.C. Presbyterian Hospital.

He was born on November 7, 1924 in Nicastro, Catanzaro Italy, the son of the late Felice and Angela (Lucchino) Talarico. John grew up in Italy and came to the United States in 1947. He settled in Monessen where he owned and operated Johnny’s Barber Shop for 60 plus years.

Johnny was a member of Epiphany of Our Lord Church, its Holy Name Society, the Knights of Columbus Council 954, and the Italian-American Heritage Society. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Marge (Ciccarelli) Talarico, a son Phillip (Barbara) Talarico; two daughters, Angela (Thomas) DeRose, Diana “DeeDee” (Ernest “Buzz”) Adams; six grandchildren, Carlisa DeRose, Vincent (Cathy) DeRose, Stephanie (Michael) Montavon, Stacie (William) Bara, Alexandra Talarico, John-Michael Talarico; three great-grandchildren, Olivia DeRose, Hunter Bara, and Giuliana Montavon; two nephews, Tommaso (Marinell) Gigliotti and Ross (Diane) Cianflone; and by numerous other nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Angelo DeRose, a brother, Saverio Gigliotti, and by two sisters, Maria Talarico and Rose Cianflone.

Friends will be received on Wednesday from 1:00 to 3:00 pm and 6:00 to 8:00 pm in the Dalfonso-Billick Funeral Home Inc. and Cremation Services, 441 Reed Avenue, Monessen. Services will be held on Thursday beginning with a 9:30 am Blessing in the funeral home, followed by a 10:00 am Funeral Mass with Rev. Michael J. Crookston officiating.

Entombment will follow in the Grandview Cemetery Mausoleum, Monessen. The Knights of Columbus Council 954 will conduct a prayer service on Wednesday at 6:00 pm in the funeral home. Condolences accepted for the family at www.
