John (Jack) W. Bolling, 91, of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, passed away suddenly on September 18, 2018 in Jacksonville, FL. Jack was born on December 7, 1926 in Buffalo, NY, to Dorothy and Arthur Bolling. Jack was a member of Ponte Vedra United Methodist Church, Scottish Rite Masonic Lodge and a former member of Sawgrass CC.

After serving in the Navy during WW2, Jack enjoyed a long and satisfying career working for the New York Telephone Company for 36 years, retiring as a Transmission Engineer in 1986. During Jack’s tenure there he had the privilege of engineering the first TAT-1 transatlantic telephone call in 1956 between Buffalo, NY and Berlin, Germany. In retirement Jack volunteered for Mayo Clinic for numerous years.

Jack is survived by his wife, Vivian Bolling of Ponte Vedra Beach; children: Thomas (Maureen) Bolling and David (Aggie) Bolling of Ponte Vedra Beach; Douglas (Patty) Bolling of Williamsville, NY; Richard (Carolyn) Huff of California, MD; Kay Richardson of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL; Debra (Ret) Travers of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL; grandchildren: Katie Lancelot of Jacksonville, FL; Gary Bolling of Vienna, VA; Leanne Khammal of McLean, VA; Susan Woeppel of Neptune Beach, FL; and Julie Bolling of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL; sister, Elizabeth Thomas of Flint, MI; and 17 great grandchildren. His first wife Jean Bolling, who passed away in 2006, and granddaughter, Shannon Bolling who passed in 2009, preceded Jack in death. On Saturday, September 22, 1918 at 3pm, a Memorial Service will be held at Ponte Vedra United Methodist Church, 76 S. Roscoe Boulevard, with a reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Mayo Clinic Cancer Research.
