OBITUARY John Wesley Mullis November 18, 1930 – December 14, 2018 Mr. John Wesley “J.W.” Mullis, a long time resident of the Mobile area, passed peacefully from this life on Friday, December 14, 2018. Born to Sidney and Annie Mae Mullis on November 18, 1930, J.W. was the third born of 4 children. On March 3, 1950 he married Opal Mae Carter, and he remained with her until her final day.

Over their 67 years together, they were blessed with 5 children, 5 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren. Of his 88 years of life, 47 of them were spent at sea as a member of the Seafarer’s International Union. J.W. is preceded in death by his wife Opal, son Johnny, brothers Jack and Phillip, and sister Catherine (Edmond).

Left to cherish his memory are his children: Terry (Joyce) Mullis, Kathy (Jim) Smith, Brenda (Terry) Steadham, and Bonifay (Scott) Magnes; grandchildren: Sidney Mullis, Brent (Francine) Smith, Brooke Whitfield, Jason (Miranda) Steadham, and Heath (Kandi) Manahan; great-grandchildren: Gavin Mullis, Jack Mullis, Wesley Smith, Charlie Smith, Annalea Steadham, and Coley Steadham. Funeral services for J.W. will be held Monday, December 17, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. from the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home, 3155 Dauphin St., Mobile, AL 36606. The family will be accepting friends Monday afternoon beginning at 1:00 P.M. until service time.

Interment will immediately follow in Mobile Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Crawford Baptist Church Building Fund, 3000 Sun Valley Dr. Mobile, AL 36618.
