Obituary of John J. McNally Jr. John J. McNally, Jr., 67, of McNeir Avenue in Amsterdam, passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2019 after a long battle with cancer. Born in Amsterdam, NY on September 8, 1951, he was the son of the late John and Helen Dawson McNally Sr. A lifelong area resident, John graduated from Wilbur H. Lynch High School in 1970. He joined the Navy in July 1971 and was stationed on the USS Fulton where he served his country until 1975.

John was a member of the Post 701. He was employed at General Electric in Schenectady as a painter in the Large Motor and Generator Department, Bojud Knitting Mills, and Original Works. John was the oldest of 10 siblings, he is survived by his sisters; Eileen Vargas and her husband Carlos, Cathy Hernandez, Caroline Pietri and her husband Edgar, Sandra Blankenbaker and her husband Mike, all of Amsterdam.

John is survived by brothers; Stephen McNally of Tallahassee, FL, William McNally and his wife Donna, and Adam McNally of Grand Prairie, TX, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. John was preceded in death by his brothers Louis McNally, who passed away on June 10, 2013, and Peter McNally, who passed away on September 23, 2017. At the family’s request there are no calling hours.

A private interment will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Montgomery County Office for Aging, Meals of Montgomery Program, 135 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
