Jorene Roberts, Cushing resident, passed away on Friday, September 14, 2018 in the Linwood Village Nursing Home at the age of 99 years. The daughter of the late Edd Griggs and Essie Kemp Griggs, Jorene was born on January 18, 1919 in Clinton, Arkansas. Jorene was united in marriage to Loyd Roberts in July 1937 and to this union two children, Don and Lynda were born.

She worked many years at the Harmony school and was known to many as “granny Jo”. Jorene loved raising kids, grandkids and great-grandkids. Survivors include her daughter, Lynda Cummings and husband, Tom, of Cushing; grandchildren, Kelly Roberts and wife, Brenda & Kim Ward, whom she raised as her own children, Sherri Beene and husband, David, Pamela Werner and husband, Bas, and Justin Lee and wife, Jenny; eleven great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Ida Bruce of Wagoner and Betty Fritz of Silver City; sister-in-law, Judy Fitts of Claremore and many other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, husband and son, Jorene was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister. Funeral services will be Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. in the Davis Memorial Chapel with Pastor Sonny Johnston officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairlawn Cemetery.
