Jose Acevedo, 85 of Perth Amboy, passed away on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Perth Amboy with his family by his side. Jose was born and raised in La Vega, Dominican Republic before moving to Perth Amboy many years ago. He served his country in the Dominican Army and received the rank of Sergeant.

He was employed by various factories in the Middle County area as a laborer. Jose loved watching baseball, especially his New York Yankees, playing dominoes and spending time with family and friends. He loved to travel, especially back to Dominican Republic.

He is preceded in death by his parents Juan Acevedo and Gumercinda Marte; dear brother of Daniel, Felicia & Hilario Acevedo. Jose is survived by his devoted wife Felicia Acevedo ~ Aracena; beloved father of Julio Acevedo and his wife Lina Maria Perez, Miguel Acevedo and his wife Marisol Marte, Iluminada and her husband Manuel Espaillat, Danilo Acevedo and his wife Delmocenes Terrera, Nelson Acevedo and his wife Yadira Acosta, Aracelis and her husband Artemio Villa, Ivelice Acevedo and her husband Felix Rosario, Ubaldo and his wife Maria Esther Acevedo, Julio and his wife Rosa Acevedo, Odalis Acevedo and his wife Yadira Solis and Jacqueline Acevedo; loving brother of Reina Acevedo; adored grandfather of 26 and great ~ grandfather of 4; cherished uncle of many nieces, nephews and cousins. A Funeral Mass will be offered on Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at 10 am at Our Lady of Hungary Church, Perth Amboy.

Interment will be private. Visiting is on Monday from 5 ~ 9 pm. Arrangements entrusted to Gustav J. Novak Funeral Home, 419 Barclay Street, Perth Amboy.
