Jose Melendez-Hernandez, 42, passed away Thursday, January 10, 2019, at his residence in Mocksville. He was born in Mexico on April 15, 1976, the son of Josefina Amaro-Sanchez, who survives, and the late Bonifacio Hernandez-Salinas. For the past 18-19 years, he had worked as a concrete laborer in the construction industry.

He attended St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Mocksville. In addition to his mother, survivors include two sons, Jovanni and Jair Hernandez; two daughters, Jennifer and Jasmine Hernandez; and three sisters: Maria Felix Hernandez-Amaro of Mocksville, Virginia Hernandez-Amaro and Adele Hernandez-Amaro. Arrangements relating to funeral rites will be announced later by Davie Funeral Service which is assisting the family.
