Obituary for Joseph B Powers Joseph B. Powers of Pittsfield, MA passed away on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at the age of 95. He was the son of the late Joseph R. Powers and Dolores H. LaMudge Powers. He was born on October 14, 1923 at the former St. Luke’s Hospital.

He attended local schools and was a graduate of St. Joseph High School in 1941. He was a veteran of World War II, where he served in the Army. He was a member of the American Legion for 70 plus years.

Joseph was also a member of the Pittsfield Senior Center for many years. Joseph was last employed by the City of Pittsfield school department for 20 years. He was the senior custodian at Williams School, retiring in 1986.

He was also the former treasurer of the Pittsfield Custodians Association. He enjoyed fishing, old western movies, heavy weight boxing, his home on Cape Cod and his dogs, Mickey and Molly. He was predeceased by his wife, Marietta Barile Powers, his three sisters, Connie Dean, Mary Mason and Helen French.

He was also predeceased by his two brothers, Edward and Richard. Survivors include his daughter, Dolores A. Powers of Pittsfield, his sons, Joseph B. Powers (Jean) of Harleysville, PA. , and Thomas R. Powers (Elizabeth) of Dalton, MA.

His five grandchildren, Shannon King (William) of Topsfield, MA; Jessie Lynch (William) of Reading, MA; Michaela Powers of Boston, MA; Gregory (Dana) of Lederach, PA and Laura Wacker (William) of Schwenksville, PA. He also leaves five great-grandchildren, Jeremy King, Mason King, Henry Lynch, Caroline Wacker and Christian Wacker, along with many nieces and nephews. Services are private and will be at the convenience of the family.
