Malta, NY Joseph E. Huneau, Sr. 76, passed on peacefully after a brief illness at Saratoga Hospital on January 28, 2019. Born and raised in Cohoes, Joe was the son of the late Edmond and Josephine (Shagalski) Huneau. Joseph attended St. Patrick’s School, Cohoes and graduated from Cohoes High School.

After graduation he began his baking career as an apprentice baker at Home Town Bakery in Cohoes. He was a baker there with the Jaroze-Sorell, Miazga families until it closed. Later before retirement, Joe cooked and baked for the Carillion Restaurant in Ticonderoga, NY.

A long time member of the Cohoes Rod and Gun Club, he enjoyed hunting and fishing with his special group of friends (John, Ken, Dave, Leo) for over 50 years. Survived by a son Joesph E., Jr. (Missy) and daughter Darcie Lynn (Bernie). Three grandchildren, Joseph Huneau, Katrina Gavitt, Andrew Gavitt and great grandson Sawyer Gavitt.

Also former wife Eva M. (Gorleski) Huneau Shaughnessy (David) mother of his children. Predeceased by daughter Cynthia (Wm) Gavitt. Joe is survived by one brother Terry and sisters Pat and Geraldine.

Several sisters-in law, brothers-in law, nieces and nephews. Predeceased by brothers Ozzie, Frank, Craig and Jim, two stepbrothers Steve and Ed and stepsister Theresa. Funeral service are private service, there are no calling hours.
