Obituary for Josephine Andreucci (Savaglio) Josephine Andreucci passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 16, 2018, at the Grande Prairie Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born on October 26, 1923, in Kenosha, WI, the daughter of Frank and Carmella (Russo) Savaglio. She was involved in many family and church activities.
She attended Mary D. Bradford High School and graduated in 1941. After waiting for the love of her life, William Andreucci to return home from serving in South Pacific as an Army Ranger in World War II, she and Bill were married on April 17, 1946, at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Josephine and her husband both had an interest in photography and they opened the Andrecci Studio in Kenosha.
After initially opening their studio near the courthouse on 56th Street, it was moved to a nearby location one block west, where it remained for over 25 years. During those years, under the title of “The Aunt Mary Club,” Josephine photographed hundreds of young children. Precious photos treasured by their families and friends.
People might remember the delightful monkey, “Zippy,” who helped to make the children smile. She and her husband also photographed weddings, religious events and individual portraits. The studio soon became one of the leading photography studios in Kenosha.
In her spare time, Josephine enjoyed sponsoring a bowling team, playing golf and travelling. She and her husband took numerous trips throughout the United States and travelled with professional photography groups throughout the world. Josephine enjoyed writing warm and thoughtful poetry and words of wisdom for people and events.
She was a caring person who loved people, her Catholic religion, and her family. Each and every Christmas Holiday was celebrated with family and friends. She and her husband opened “The Place” nightclub next to their photography studio in the Sixties.
The nightclub featured entertainers from throughout the United States and the Kenosha area. Josephine served as the greeter and preperformance warm-up for the entertainers. Josephine was preceded in death by her husband, William, her parents, and her brother, Gabriel Savaglio.
She is survived by her sisters, Lucille (Vincent) Mancuso and Rita (Anthony) Bisciglia. She has numerous nieces and nephews. Josephine’s family would like to thank Dr. Michael Mullane, who helped her survive over 20 years of cancer and Dr. Michael Zeihen, her person physician who cared for her medical needs.
They would also thank the people at Grande Prairie Health and Rehabilitation Center and Hospice Alliance for their kindness and care.
