Obituary for Shirley Kappeler Shirley F. Kappeler, 94, of Pleasant Prairie, WI, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 27, 2018, at Hospice Alliance Hospice House in Pleasant Prairie. Born in Pittsburgh, PA, on November 15, 1923, she was the daughter of the late George V. and Emma Marie (Baust) Forsythe and graduated from Oliver High School in Pittsburgh in 1942. On February 22, 1946, she married Calvin P. Kappeler in Pittsburgh.

Together they lived in Pittsburgh before living in Waukesha, WI, Pine Bluff, AR, and Oshkosh, WI, until moving to Pleasant Prairie in 2016. Survivors include her husband, Calvin Kappeler of Pleasant Prairie; three children, Bruce (Pat) Kappeler of Pleasant Prairie, Linda (Russ) Volmar of Pewaukee, WI, and David Kappeler of Oshkosh; five grandchildren, Scott Kappeler, Carol (David) Brose, Russ Volmar III, Calvin Volmar, and Wayne Tallent; and two great-grandchildren, Riley Burgett and Mackey Brose. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Heidi Tallent; a granddaughter, Cheryl Tallent; a great-granddaughter, Anne-Marie Brose; five brothers; and four sisters.

Shirley’s family would like to thank Dr. Neil Shepler, the staff of The Addison, and the nurses and staff at Hospice Alliance for all of the kind and compassionate care they gave her. As per Shirley’s request, services will be private. Memorial contributions to the Flight 93 National Memorial or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital would be appreciated by the family.
