Obituary for Kenneth Donald Sorensen Kenneth Donald Sorensen, 91, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, November 6, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. Born on October 18, 1927, in Kenosha, he was the son of the late Theodore and Pearl (Anderson) Sorensen. A lifelong resident, he was educated in local schools and graduated from Mary D. Bradford in 1946.

Ken was a sergeant in the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War. He was proud to be a part of the Honor Flight commemorating his service. After exiting the service, he earned his bachelor’s degree in Business from Northwestern University.

On August 19, 1950, he married Mary “Jane” Turco at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church. He was a loyal member of their Parish, were he helped with fundraising and leading the Holy Rosary Festival for 40 years. Ken was employed by American Motors as the Insurance Manager in Human Res, where he worked until his retirement in January of 1988.

He also received his Realtor License and worked for Don Bain Realty. After retirement he earned his associate degree in Taxation and opened his own business, Sorensen Tax Service, where he kept busy for 15 years until he fully retired at age 75. He was a member of the Joseph Andrea Memorial Breakfast Club, Chairman for the Heart Fund, President of Toastmasters, Member of the Cancer Society and part of the Arch Bishop Fund.

He also enjoyed gardening, planting flowers and was an avid Packers fan. Survivors include his wife, Jane, of 68 years; his children Pam (Pablo) Ortiz, Diana (Scott) DeVincentis, Steve (Anna) Sorensen, and Terri Golden; as well as his six grandchildren, Jonathan, Michael, Lindsay, Taylor, Natalie, and Sofia; and his three great-grandchildren, Logan, Matthew, and Ruby. Ken was preceded in death by his brother, Wayne; and step-sisters, Margaret and Ester.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 9th, at Proko Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 10th, at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 2224 45th St., at 9:00 a.m. Entombment will follow at All Saints Mausoleum with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, donations to Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Ken’s name would be appreciated by the family. Ken’s words of wisdom: “Someone to love, something to do, and something to look forward to”.
