Obituary for Wayne Elroy Shipton Wayne Elroy Shipton, 97, of Pleasant Prairie, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 22, 2018, at Grande Prairie Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born in Spring Valley, MN, on March 11, 1921, he was the son of the late Rollin and Leona (Hess) Shipton. On June 14, 1942, he married Ruth Lucille Wilson in Olympia, WA.
She preceded him in death on March 25, 2015. In 1944, Wayne joined the US Army and served in WWII until his honorable discharge in 1946. He was employed at Johnson Motors as a welder for 30 years and retired on October 30, 1983.
Wayne was a member at United Methodist Church in Bristol. He enjoyed riding his moped around, woodworking, John Deere, and spending time with family and friends. Survivors include his daughter, Janet Thrams of Augusta, WI; four grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Judy R. Hartman in 1984; a sister, Lucille Wilson in 2015; a son-in-law, Ulrich “Ole” Thrams in 2017; and a granddaughter, Valerie Anderson in 2017.
