Josephine Noah Sides, age 90, passed away Monday, February 25th, 2019 surrounded by family in Burnsville, NC. Born November 21, 1928 in Wheeler, Texas, Jo was the second-youngest of 9 siblings. After graduating from Wheeler High School, she married her ‘Honey Bill’ of 65 years and raised 3 daughters.

After relocating to Jacksonville, Jo became an active member of Lake Shore United Methodist Church and served as their church secretary for many years. In her free time, Jo loved sewing, crocheting, and making hand-painted porcelain dolls. She was an avid reader, and loved stories of both romance and her Christian faith.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, L. Bill Sides, and her youngest daughter, Lugene Sides. She is survived by her daughters Barbara (Richard) Drought of Westminster, MD, and Marsha (Jim) Woods of Burnsville, NC, as well as two granddaughters, Tyler Link and Aimee Woods. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 6th, 2019 at 11:00 am at Jacksonville Memory Gardens, 111 Blanding Blvd, Orange Park, FL 32073, with visitation beginning there at 10:00 am the same day.

Those who so desire may make donations in memory of Jo to the Lake Shore United Methodist Church Youth Scholarship Fund at 2246 Blanding Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32210, or Yancey Hospice and Palliative Care, 856 Georges Fork Rd, Burnsville, NC 28714.
