Joyce Bogenschutz Workens, 75, of Charlotte, N.C. and formerly of Jackson Avenue West Ellicott, N.Y., passed away on Thursday, May 16, 2019 at White Oak Manor Nursing Home, Waxhaw, N.C. She was a native of the Jamestown area. She was born on January 26, 1944 in Jamestown, N.Y., the daughter of the late Ernest and Margaret Pickard Bogenschutz.

Joyce graduated from Bemus Point High School. One of her favorite activities was roller skating at Midway Park with her many friends. She also enjoyed golfing, reading, traveling with her mother to North Carolina to visit her children and grandchildren.

She also enjoyed traveling with a group of her close friends. She was a member of St. Timothy’s Lutheran Church, Bemus Point, New York. Joyce had a special family her first son, Scott (Marisa) Rogers and their daughters, Ellie and Riley Rogers, and her second son, Craig (Mandy) Rogers and their son Tyler Rogers both families reside in Charlotte, North Carolina; one sister, Helen (William) Waite, of Reno, Nevada.

Joyce liked visiting her sister and playing slot machines and petting the wild Mustangs that visited her sister’s yard. She is also survived by her cousins, Carl (Katherine) Calimeri and Robert (Laurel) Calimeri and their families. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her second husband, Frank Workens.

Friends may call at Powers, Present & Sixbey Funeral Home, 316 East Fifth Street, Jamestown, N.Y on Wednesday from 11AM until 1PM. A service will follow at 1PM. Rev.
