At the age of 73, Joyce Edna (Hollyman) Bridges passed away from natural causes and gained her angel wings, joining our heavenly father in heaven on May 10th, 2018. Joyce was born on October 9th, 1944 to Paul F. Hollyman and Edith R. (Craven) Hollyman. Joyce was the 4th of 7 children born to Paul and Edie (Edith).

After graduating from Toledo High School, Joyce worked at Mel’s Diner as well as Dairy Queen. She met James R. Bridges in 1963 and they were married on April 26th, 1964 at the Trinity Methodist church in Toledo, Oregon. They later settled in Springfield, Oregon with their four children and welcomed a 5th in 1978.

They later divorced in 1979. Joyce attended a local business college in Eugene, where she studied business administration. She worked for the state of Oregon and subsequently retired in 1982.

Joyce touched many people with her loving heart and super sense of humor. In her younger years she was a great bowler and enjoyed golfing and fishing. She had a great love for spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Joyce was an avid Oregon Ducks fan and regularly watched her grandchildren play sports as well as watching tennis, baseball, basketball, and football. Joyce read the Bible daily, attended church as much as possible, and greatly enjoyed connecting and visiting her many, many friends. Joyce was preceded in death by her Father and Mother, Paul and Edith Hollyman, sister Shirley Gold, sister Loretta (Sue) Cook and half-brother Frank Hollyman.

Joyce is survived by her son Jon Bridges of Oakridge, OR. , daughter Jaime Tavenner of Westfir, OR. , daughter Jodi Bridges of Oakland, CA.

, daughter Jennifer Henke of Redmond, OR. , daughter Jacki Pierce of Springfield, OR. , sisters and brothers-in-law, Patricia and Floyd Ferguson, Bonnie and Rob Bogaard and Debbie Hollyman as well as six grandchildren: James, Josh, April, Ariel, Shailynn and Tristen; and four great-grandchildren: Avery, Jaylen, Braxton and Grayson.

Services were held at Bateman Funeral Home in Newport, Oregon on Friday, May 18th, 2018. Viewing was held from 11:00am to 1:00pm and immediately followed by a memorial service. A graveside service was held at Eureka cemetery at 2:00pm, followed by a Celebration of Life reception at The American Legion in Newport at 3:00pm.
