Joyce E. Sheldon, 91, passed away on March 21, 2019 at Cheshire County Maplewood Nursing Home after a brief illness. Joyce was born on April 1, 1928 in Buckton, NY to the late Ralph Riggs and Gladys (Pike) Riggs. She graduated from Brasher High School in Stockholm, NY before working in the food service department at Potsdam College for 25 years.

In August of 2000, Joyce moved to Newport, NH to be closer to her family. She enjoyed the flower gardens at the Pearl Street apartments. She was predeceased by her husband, George Sheldon in 1984, and her sons, George Sheldon, Jr. in 1980 and Robert Sheldon in 2017.

She was also predeceased by her brother, Dykes Riggs. Surviving family includes her daughters, Bonnie Sheldon of Norfolk, NY, Kathy Hazelton of Hinsdale, NH, Mary Sheldon of Scarborough, ME, and Dolly Mannette of Windham, ME. A memorial will be held in Parishville, NY.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in Joyce’s name to the ALS Association Northern New England Chapter, 10 Ferry Street – Suite 438 – Concord, NH 03301. Newton-Bartlett is assisting the family with arrangements.
