OBITUARY Joyce F. Carvalho July 18, 1937 – November 23, 2018 Joyce F. (Brightman) Carvalho, 81, of Fairhaven, passed away Friday, November 23, 2018 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of Gilbert G. Carvalho, with whom she shared 61 years of marriage. Born in New Bedford, she was the daughter of the late George and Lillian (Ducharme) Brightman.

Joyce loved her home and family. She was a talented stencilist, and enjoyed arts and crafts and giving her homemade gifts to her friends and family. She was fond of baking, and will be forever remembered for her pumpkin bread.

She brought joy to all who knew her. In addition to her husband survivors include her four children, Mark Carvalho and his wife Christine of Fairhaven, Andrew Carvalho and his partner Christine DeMello of Fairhaven, Thomas Carvalho of Fairhaven and Kelley Mills and her husband Peter of Dartmouth; four beloved grandchildren, Jessica Janson and her husband Ian, Lynden Mills, Shannon Mills and Nicholas Carvalho and several nieces and nephews. She was also greatly anticipating the arrival of her first great grandchild.

She was the mother of the late Lynn Ann Carvalho and sister of the late Claire Jason and George Brightman. The family would like to thank the staff at Community Nurse Home Care of Fairhaven for their care and compassion. Her funeral and burial were private.
