Joyce Spurlock age 76 of Smithville, went home to be with the Lord Thursday afternoon, February 14, 2019 at her residence. She was born June 28, 1942 to her parents, the late Arthur and Clara Atnip Hendrixson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 1 sister, Eva Hill and 3 brothers, Paul, Roy and Vernon Hendrixson.

Joyce was a member of the Indian Creek Baptist Church where she was in the Women’s Mission Group; she was a member of the Smithville B&PW Club, worked with the American Heart Association and was a retired Corrections Officer with the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department. She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 56 years, Jerry Spurlock of Smithville; daughter, Pam (Mike) Baines of Smithville; 2 grandchildren, Michael White (Karla Gaddie) of Virginia Beach, VA and Emily (Josh) Linder of Norfolk, VA; 2 great-grandchildren, Katie Madison Linder and Wesley Paul White; 2 sisters, Anna (Jack) Chidester of White Bluff, TN and Barbara Dean Arnold of Smithville. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Monday, February 18, 2019 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bros.

Ric Lee and Mike Carpenter officiating and burial will be in Prosperity Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday 12 Noon until 8:PM and Monday 9:AM until 11:AM. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
