A resident of Jersey City’s Heights neighborhood for over 35 years, Juana Amilda “Mindy” Ramirez Correa, 71, died peacefully at the Jersey City Medical Center surrounded by loved ones the evening of January 3rd. The third oldest of twelve children, Mrs. Correa was born in Guayanilla, P.R. where she studied nursing and went on to work as an LPN. Upon marrying her husband of 48 years, she moved to Hoboken, NJ and lived there until purchasing her current home in the early 1980s.

A deeply spiritual woman, Mrs. Correa had been a member of St. Joseph’s in Hoboken and St. Anne’s in Jersey City, often volunteering her sewing and cooking skills for various church fundraisers when not working tirelessly on the PTAs of her children’s schools. She leaves behind a devoted husband, Nestor; three daughters, Yessenia Correa-Ramirez, Angelina Correa Coe, and Christiamilda Correa; two grandchildren, Esperanza Coe and Matrit Coe; two son in laws, Clark Coe; eight sisters, Dominga Ramirez, Oneida Ramirez Mercado, Maria Luisa Ramirez Rosario, Eloina Ramirez Balbi, Luz Mela Ramirez, Anacelis Ramirez, Iraida Ramirez Diaz, and Marangeli Ramirez; three brothers, Wilfredo Ramirez Lopez, Edelmiro Ramirez Lopez, and Benigno Ramirez Lopez; in addition to several dozen nieces and nephews. A Visitation for Juana will be held on Sunday, January 6, 2018, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the funeral home (For GPS use address 14 Stagg St., Jersey City).

Additional services will take place on a later date at Funerarias Pacheco in Guayanilla, Puerto Rico.
