Mrs. Judy Braddy Tapley, 66, of Swainsboro, GA. passed away peacefully Sunday, February 3, 2019 at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, GA following an extended illness. Mrs. Tapley was born on December 28, 1952 in Swainsboro, GA.

to C. T. Braddy and Mary Murphy Kent. She was preceded in death by her father; grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. C. T. Braddy. Sr. and Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Murphy.

Mrs. Tapley was a graduate of Swainsboro High School, Class of 1970, and graduated beauty school in 1972. She highly enjoyed working for Swainsboro Primary School for many years. Mrs. Tapley’s passions were spending time with granddaughters, reading, and cheering on her favorite sports teams, the Atlanta Braves, Atlanta Falcons and Georgia Bulldogs.

She was a member of First Baptist Church of Swainsboro. Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Johnny E. Tapley, Jr. of Swainsboro; son, Jon E. Tapley III (Kristin) of Woodstock, GA; her mother and step-father, Mary Murphy Kent (Dana) of Swainsboro; sister, Jan B. Slater (James) of Swainsboro; brother, Dana Cassidy Kent (Melanie) of Martinez; granddaughters, Mary and Murphy Tapley of Woodstock, several nieces, nephews, and many friends. Funeral Services will be held in the Chapel of Chapman Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 7, 2019 with Rev, Franklin Sasser officiating.

The family will receive friends from 10 am to 11 am Thursday, February 7, 2019 at Chapman Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Shriners Children’s Hospital. www.
