John LaFayette Stewart of Swainsboro December 22, 1922 – March 3, 2019 3/3/2019 Mr. John L. Stewart, 96, resident of Swainsboro, died Sunday morning . Mr. Stewart was born in Thomas County ,Georgia son of the late U.C. Stewart and Eula Owens Stewart. John was a WWII veteran of the United States Navy serving aboard the USS Samuel N. Moore.
Mr. Stewart had retired from the United States Department of Agriculture Soil Conservation Service. He was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church. Funeral services for Mr. John L. Stewart will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 P.M. from the chapel of Tomlinson Funeral Home with Reverend Mark Miller officiating.
Interment with Military Honors will follow at Ebenezer United Methodist Church Cemetery . The Family will receive friends at Tomlinson Funeral Home Wednesday afternoon from 1:00 P.M. until the funeral service at 2:00 P.M. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Mr. Stewart. Survivors include 2 Daughters– Valerie Faircloth(David) Nancy Silveira Son– John S. Stewart(Luda) grandchildren–Clayton Faircloth(Ashley), Armando and Serena deSilveira Amy Faircloth (Nick Costillo) Brother– Cecil Stewart Sister– Madeleine S. Alred Arrangements are by Tomlinson Funeral Home and Crematory of Swainsboro.
