Obituary for Judy Hensley Our beloved Nana, sister, and friend went home to her heavenly father on January 6, 2019. She was 65 years old. Judy was born December 11, 1953 in Albuquerque, NM to Fordie and Claudia Hensley.

She graduated from Deming High School in 1971. She completed a Bachelor’s degree at Western NM University and a Master’s degree in Community Health Education at University of New Mexico. Judy was a gifted teacher.

She spent many years performing HIV prevention education for the NM Department of Health which she started soon after the infection was initially identified. She shared her knowledge and expertise with countless groups and individuals across the state. She was known for her unique ability to add humor to even the toughest subjects and left a lasting impression on all she encountered.

Judy will be forever missed, loved, and appreciated. Those left to cherish her memory include her son Joseph Fullbright of Las Cruces; brothers Charles Hensley (Judith) of Hatch, NM and Tom Hensley (Merline) of Deming, NM; sister Vivian Bradbury (Wayne) of Tonasket, WA; and special longtime friend, Gina Fullbright, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Fordie and Claudia Hensley.

Judy was a generous, witty, honest, loyal individual who loved nothing more than spending time with her son and family. She enjoyed watching all sports and could always be found passionately cheering on her favorite Dallas Cowboys and Boston Red Sox. A Celebration of Life to honor her memory will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2019 from 12:00-2:00 pm at Staybridge Suites in Las Cruces, NM.

Friends are invited to come share their stories and experiences of our loved one. The family asks everyone to wear casual clothing/sports attire to honor her love of the games. The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Dr. Stefan Schaefer, Judy’s primary care provider, who provided many years of compassionate medical care up to her very last moments.
