Obituary for Julia Ann King Julia Ann King, 52, of San Antonio, Texas, while surrounded by her family at home, went to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on Monday, June 4, 2018. She was born on November 12, 1965, in Nuremberg, Germany, to Algimantas and Eleanor (Mickis) Sparkevicius, who were stationed there with the U.S. Army. The family was later stationed at White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico.

Julia graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from NMSU in Las Cruces, NM. In December 1987, she married Joe D. (Jody) King of Portales, NM. Over the years, they lived in San Jose, CA; Burbank, CA; Tokyo, Japan; Albuquerque, NM; and Clovis, NM.

While living in California, Julia worked for NBC on The Tonight Show and Wheel of Fortune. Later, while living in Clovis, Julia received her teacher certification and pursued her Master’s Degree from ENMU in Portales, NM. Julia was born to be a teacher and taught for 20 years at several places: International School of the Sacred Heart in Tokyo, Japan; Clovis High School; Rolling Hills Academy in San Antonio; and most recently as an English teacher at Brandeis High School.

She was an active member of many Catholic communities, a parishioner of St. Brigid’s Catholic Church, and was always proud of her Lithuanian heritage. Julia was known for her perpetual optimism, radiance, and benevolence. She was preceded in death by her father, Algimantas Sparkevicius.

She is survived by her spouse, Joe D. (Jody) King; son, Joseph King; daughter, Joanne (King) Gonzalez; mother, Eleanor Sparkevicius; and sister, Andrea Sparkevicius. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 7, 2018, at Oak Hills Mortuary, 8332 Fredericksburg Road. The funeral mass will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 8, 2018, at St. Brigid’s Catholic Church, 6907 Kitchener.

Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, at Cordi-Marian, 11624 Culebra Rd, San Antonio, TX 78253. Instead of flowers, it was Julia’s request that memorial donations be made to Presentation Sisters, 8931 Callaghan Rd, San Antonio, TX, 78230. Today’s Events Rosary 2018 JUN 7.
