Obituary for Mike Domitrovich Mike Domitrovich Jr., passed away on May 28 after a lengthy battle with heart disease and dementia. He is survived by his brother Andy Domitrovich of West Virginia, son Bradley and daughter-in-law Gina of Georgetown, and son Michael and daughter-in-law Kris of Fargo, ND. He was blessed with 1 grandson, 6 granddaughters, and 4 great-granddaughters.
Mike was preceded in death by his dear wife of 49 years Florynce, father Mike, mother Agnes, and sisters Helen and Elizabeth. Mike resided for the past 10 months at Autumn Leaves Memory Care in Georgetown, and for 7 years prior in the home of Brad and Gina’s. Mike was born on November 13, 1925 in Adah, PA.
He enlisted in the U.S. Navy at the age of 17 and spent a career of 22 years serving his country retiring with the man of Commissaryman Master Chief Petty Officer (CSCM). He served in France during WWII as a member of the 114th Seabees, and numerous other ports of call around the world including: the Aleutian Islands, Petropavlovsk, Point Barrow, Great Lakes, Mariana Islands, Greenland, and others. He also served aboard the USS Bayonne during the Korean War, the USS Burton Island during Operation Deep Freeze III, and the USS Turner Joy in the South China Sea.
He retired at Navy Ship’s Store Office, where the Navy’s commissary headquarters was located in Philadelphia. Domitrovich became one of the “founding fathers” of the Air Force Commissary Service (AFCOMS) located at Kelly AFB in San Antonio until retiring in 1988. He lived in San Antonio until 1999 before moving to Pipe Creek.
He stayed in Pipe Creek until moving to Georgetown with Brad and Gina in 2010. He is a 4th Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus Assembly #2628, and has been a Knight for over 60 years. SERVICES Visitation will be begin at 6:00 P.M. followed by a Rosary at 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North, 3401 Cherry Ridge Drive, San Antonio, Texas.
The Graveside Service with Military Honors will be at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, June 14, 2018 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Road, San Antonio, Texas.
