Moran, Julia Corvino Moran, age 86, of Monroe, beloved wife of the late Charles I. Moran, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2019, in Danbury Regional Hospice with her loving daughter by her side. She was born December 8, 1932, in Bridgeport, CT, daughter of the late John and Victoria Serritella Corvino. Julia graduated from Stratford High School in 1950, and in later years attended Western Connecticut State College studying English Literature and History.
She resided in Silvermine, CT until the late 1970s where she worked for Perkin Elmer Corporation as a Human Re Specialist. For many years she lived in the Bayview Beach section of Milford, where she was active in the Democratic party while working as Office Manager for the Consultation Center at Yale University. Julia was a gifted fine artist, film aficionado, avid opera and classical music enthusiast, talented cook, and humanitarian.
During her retirement, she volunteered in the Bridgeport Public School system’s Grandparent Mentor Program for several years. She was a highly intelligent, beautiful woman, with a glamorous sense of style, magnetic personality, and a soul filled with kindness. Many would agree her mission in life was to help others before herself.
Julia’s love of family and friends was abundant. Above all, she was a wonderful mother, sister, aunt, and best friend to many. Those who knew her recognized her resolute dedication toeducation, social justice and equality for all.
As a single parent for many years, she supported her children and inspired her daughter to live a life filled with purpose, passion, and compassion for others. Julia is survived by one son, Ric Petitti of Oregon, one daughter, Dr. Rachael Petitti and partner Sandi Johnston of Monroe, one stepson, Mark Moran of Stratford, one stepdaughter, Cathy Savisky of Shelton, one granddaughter, Kaitlin Moran, two brothers, John Corvino and wife Beverly of Shelton and Mark Corvino and wife Janice of Stratford and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her beloved husband, Charles, Julia was also predeceased by two sisters, Norma Corvino Ramik and Johanna Corvino Kascak.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at 9:00 AM at Mary Taylor Memorial United Methodist Church, 168 South Broad Street, Milford officiated by The Rev. Kristina Hansen. Interment will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery.
