Obituary for Julia Wheatley Julia Wheatley June 13, 1954 – December 13,2018 Julia Wheatley, age 64, of Clermont, Florida passed away unexpectedly, of a heart attack, on December 13, 2018. She was born in Alexandria, Virginia to Nancy and Lester Williams, who then moved to Lebanon, Pennsylvania where she was raised. In high school Julia met and married Harvey Boger in 1971.
Unfortunately, he turned out to be a dud and they divorced in 1981. But, from this relationship, she had the two true loves of her life her son Jeremy Boger and her daughter Jessica Boger. Being a single mom was tough on Julia, at one point she worked three jobs just to make ends meet.
But she was strong, determined and persevered. We believe this is when her fondness of afternoon naps was born. Eventually she was able to take her children on a vacation to Walt Disney World, where her appreciation of sunshine and Mickey Mouse began.
After a few more trips (and a couple of snowstorms) she decided to pack up the family and move to Florida, nothing was going to stop her, not even when the car engine caught on fire, she just rented a U-Haul truck and kept on going. Julia started at the Magic Kingdom in 1988 where her exceptional work ethic showed and she was quickly turned into a trainer and lead. Eventually, needing a change, she joined the opening team of the All-Star Resort in 1994, this would be her home base for the majority of the next 24 years.
In 1998 she showed just how stubborn, strong and tenacious she could be when she survived an attack that by all accounts should have killed her. Instead she showed determination through rehab and was able to go back to living on her own, driving her car and working, which at the start did not seem possible. At All-Star she met and married Murray (Mike) Wheatley in 2000.
We are happy to say he was not a dud and they spent several wonderful years together, until his passing in 2007 Julia had many hobbies; from watching old movies (Casablanca, Camelot, Romeo and Juliet), being a copious reader (Agatha Christie, John Grisham, Georgette Heyer, Sue Grafton), to collecting Disney memorabilia, listening to the Beatles and winning almost every Scrabble game she was challenged to. More recently she was enjoying planning her retirement, unfortunately she passed 7 months short of reaching this goal, but we take solace in the fact that she was able to celebrate her 30 years at Disney last month, at her service award celebration with her daughter, and that she received the service award she most coveted the Jiminy Cricket statue. She is survived by her mother Nancy Williams of Lake City, FL.
; sisters Jane Williams of Napa, CA. and Christine Anderson of Lake City, FL. ; brother Joel Williams of Lebanon, PA.
; her son Jeremy Boger of Kissimmee, FL. and daughter Jessica Boger of Seattle, WA. ; nephews Brandyn Roth, Joshua Anderson, Nicholas Williams and Curt Williams; nieces Lauren Vergara and Emily Anderson.
She was preceded in death by her husband Murray (Mike) Wheatley, father Lester Williams and nephew Mark Roth. She will be greatly missed by so many. In leu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the American Heart Association at goredforwomen.org or 1-800-AHA-USA1 in honor of Julia.
