Obituary for Julie Anne Collins The lovely person behind the story: 31 years ago I met the woman who would change my life and the lives of countless others along the way. It’s a beautiful story about a person who inspired others and achieved much success. It all began with Bob and Marlene (Snavely) Collins welcoming their new baby girl into the world on October 24, 1964 in Mt.

Vernon, Ohio. She was the youngest of three children, growing up in Fredericktown Ohio, where Bob and Marlene still live today. Her older brother Jeff and his wife Marianne are right around the corner, while middle child Greg and his wife Tamara make their home in Escolan, CA with their kids and grandkids.

Julie’s folks recall what a delightful and happy child she was, who could bring a smile to any strangers face. A good student and loyal friend, Julie loved being a cheerleader for the “Freddies”. After earning her college degree, she began a career in women’s retail fashion.

It was then, that our 31 year friendship began. Six years later, in 1993, she left the world of fashion for Robert Half, a global leader in specialized staffing. A career that would eventually take her from Akron and across the country, landing back in her home Buckeye State in 2002.

While Julie and I remained friends, we both went our separate ways over the next 10 years, and found each other again in 2001 -when we needed each other most. From then on, we were seldom apart. On St. Patrick’s Day in 2008, we, Julie Collins and Dan Glasener, came together to celebrate our love with a beautiful morning wedding in Sarasota and then cheered on our Cincinnati Reds at spring training.

Over the years, Julie and I were focused on our careers, mine as a Nationwide Insurance agency owner, Julie as a District Director; a role she held for 10 years. Julie’s leadership style was to create a culture that empowered people to reach their highest potential. Under her direction, many people grew and advanced their careers, which brought her great pride, as Julie always reminded us, “It is all about the people”.

In 2016, Julie was selected to lead the OfficeTeam division as Executive Director, responsible for accelerating growth internationally. While Julie excelled in business and held several high level positions, she continued to be the humble person that made friends with each person she touched. Julie loved fashion and style, and was as comfortable in a business suit as a ball cap and flip flops.

She loved the German Village community and her beautiful “Haus und Garten”. Art Crawl and Village Lights were two of her favorite events to share with friends. The children around her cherished “Julie moments” filled with warm hugs, playfulness, a contagious sense of humor, and big smiles.

While Julie’s health declined in recent years, she embodied strength and approached each day and every challenge with positivity. Her life ended way too soon and way too sudden on May 6, 2018. We all need to experience a little more “Julie time” and will gather as friends and family on May 23 at the Wells Barn at Franklin Park Conservatory.

The day will include time to comfort her family and honor her through shared memories as we continue telling the story of Julie Anne Collins. Friends and family may arrive at 11:00a.m. with the tribute from 11:30-12:30pm, followed by more time for fellowship and sharing. Julie’s commitment to lifting the lives of others is reflected in her support of “Dress for Success”, a nonprofit organization that provides assistance to women transitioning from unemployment to self-sufficiency through career-development and employment-retention initiatives.

In lieu of flowers, the family ask that you support Julie’s cause by submitting donations “In memory of Julie Collins, Dress for Success Columbus” at dressforsuccess.org.
