After Charles Herring returned home from service in WWII, he and June raised four children together: Gloria (Dan) McEwen of Alpena; John (Peg) Herring of Onaway; Richard (Laura) Herring of Cheboygan; and Rocky Herring of Cheboygan. She leaves behind eight grandchildren: Lisa, Tom, Harry, Kevin, Rusty, Jamie, Eric, and Rachel. Great-grandchildren are Erin, Trina, Luke, Justen, Danny, Harley, Charley, Corrissa, Ibben, and Rayne, and great-great grandchildren Wyatt, Ava, Jacob, and Cashe.

Preceding her in death were husband Chuck, granddaughter Wendy, and son-in-law Dan. June’s long-time friend George Friday died in 2015. Often called “June-Bug” by the Medilodge staff, June was cheerful and willing to help anyone in need.

Until she became unable to walk, she often assisted other patients in the facility who were unable to navigate well or confused about where their room was. She loved Bingo, coffee with friends, and visits to the casino. Cremation has taken place.

A gathering to celebrate June’s life will be held at a later date, and she will be laid to rest at Pinehill Cemetery. Those planning an expression of sympathy please consider a donation in June’s memory to your favorite charity. Arrangements are being handled by the Nordman-Christian Funeral Home.
