June Pearl Leslie, age 87, of South Bend, passed away on Monday, February 11, 2019 at her residence. She was born on June 27, 1931 in Mishawaka, IN, to Oscar and Hazel Chaney, both of whom preceded her in death. June is survived by her children, Pamela (Ron Winfrey) Leslie of Fayetteville, NC; Deborah Frantom of Lake Mary, FL; Rebecca Cronk of South Bend; Annette (John) Ferguson of Springfield, MO; and Timothy Leslie of South Bend; thirteen grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Loiann Shaw of Minnesota; Sandy Sutherland of Kansas; Cora Reed of Florida; Katherine Smallwood of North Carolina; Iris Horvath of Washington; and Dale Chaney of Indiana; and a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, June was preceded in death by her son, Norman Allen Leslie; son-in-law, Verne Cronk; and other brothers and sisters. June was employed as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). She was a free and independent spirit.

She loved playing volleyball, dancing, playing darts, and camping. June was instrumental in starting the girls’ softball program for Eastend Little League in Mishawaka. A memorial service for June will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at Palmer Funeral Home—Hickey Chapel, 17131 Cleveland Road, South Bend, IN.

Arlin Cochran, chaplain at Center for Hospice Care, will officiate. Friends may visit with the family from 1:00-2:00pm on Saturday at the funeral home prior to the service. Expressions of sympathy in memory of June may be donated to American Cancer Society of Northern Indiana, 130 Red Coach Drive, Mishawaka, IN 46545.
