Norma Jean Solmos, 90 years old, passed away at 7:25 a.m. on Friday, February 8, 2019, at Miller’s Merry Manor in Walkerton, IN. Mrs. Solmos was born on December 2, 1928 in North Liberty to the late Zell and Helen (Finch) O’Connor. She has remained a lifelong resident of North Liberty.

In December of 1954 in North Liberty, Norma and Steve Solmos, Jr. were united in marriage. Steve passed away on November 3, 1989. Three grandchildren, Danielle Hughes, Dawn Hughes, and Kristen McLaughlin; sister, Enid Boudine; and six brothers, Lawrence, William, Harold, Lester, Donnie, and Walter Earl O’Connor, all preceded in death.

Mrs. Solmos retired from Easy Heat-Wire Craft in 1989 after 33 years of employment. Mrs. Solmos is survived by her five children, Linda L. (Tim) McLaughlin of North Liberty, Cindy S. Gurrola (Bud) of South Bend, Ty S. Solmos of South Bend, Josephine M. Stephens (Jim) of Walkerton, and Victor C. (Sherri) Solmos of North Liberty; five grandchildren, Todd (Kari) McLaughlin, Kendal Solmos, Brody Solmos, Brock Solmos, and Jodi (Dennis) Park; ten great grandchildren; three sisters, Doris (Denny) Groves of North Liberty, Dorothy Arnett of North Liberty, and Judy (Mike) Granning of Ft. Wayne; and one brother, Verland O’Connor (Larry) of South Bend.

Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, February 11, 2019 at the Palmer Funeral Home, 202 N. Main Street, North Liberty. Pastor Tim Davis will officiate. Friends may visit with the family from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 12th, at the Westlawn Cemetery, North Liberty. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Norma Jean Solmos may be donated to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, P.O. Box 678572, Dallas, TX 75267-8572.
