Mr. Donald R. Harman, 75, passed away peacefully at his home in South Bend, IN on the afternoon of Saturday, February 2, 2019, surrounded by his family. Donald (Don) was born on June 26, 1943 in Kosciusko County. Don spent the first part of his life in North Webster, IN, moving to South Bend in 1964.
In 1965, Don was united in marriage to Nedra C, Jensen. He spent many years of service as a maintenance supervisor on the toll road, working for the State of Indiana. Don was a proud father of a son and two daughters, a beloved grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. In his free time, he enjoyed traveling, spending time with his family and watching his Westerns. Don also enjoyed cooking, baking and going to all of his grandkids baseball and football games.
He was a supportive and kind-hearted father and grandfather. He was always a phone call away to answer any question or to come help change a tire or unclog a bathtub. In Don’s early years, when his kids were kids, he did a lot of volunteering at Chet Wagner Little League.
Don was always a helpful man, from helping serve food at the Angel of Hope benefit or serving Thanksgiving dinner at the Keith Giden Youth Center. Don was always helping out at fundraisers, no matter if it had to do with the grandkids stuff for school or selling raffle tickets for a big drawing. Don was also an active member of T.O.P.S.
Don is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Nedra C. (Jensen) Harman; daughters Jodie L. Harman and Heather M. Harman, both of South Bend; grandchildren Ashley Harman, Jessica McCaffery, Shelby Harman, Thomas “TJ” Brown, Darryl “Trey” Brown, A’Nya Brown; one great-grandson Rayllen McCaffery, all of South Bend; sisters Janet (Dick) Powell of Findlay, OH, MaryLou Ducat of North Baltimore and Kimberly (Keith) Reynolds of Bradner, OH; brother Walter Harman of Fostoria, OH; daughter-in-law MaryAnn Harman; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
