Mrs. Verda L. Gordon, 94, passed away peacefully at her home on the evening of Friday, February 1, 2019, surrounded by her loved ones. Verda was born on March 29, 1924 in Montgomery, AL to Luther and Sally (McWhorter) Grier. Verda was a long-time resident of South Bend, having moved to the area from Alabama in 1952.

On February 17, 1946, Verda was united in marriage to Paul T. Gordon, Sr., who preceded her in death on September 18, 2002. Verda was employed for many years as a line person for Ball Band and was the proud mother of five. Verda was an active member of Women of the Moose.

enjoyed dancing, playing cards and most of all, spending time with those she held dear. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, aunt, sister and friend. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Left to cherish Verda’s memory are her loving children: Patricia (Julius “Butch”) Yuhouse of New Carlisle, Tommy (Amy) Gordon of LaGrange, Terry (Teri) Gordon of South Bend and Sheila (Brian) Wright of South Bend. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; as well as a host of extended family and friends. Verda was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 56 years; son Paul Timothy Gordon, Jr.; grandson Shawn Paul Gordon Collett; two brothers; three sisters.

Services for Mrs. Verda L. Gordon will be held on Thursday, February 7, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at Palmer Funeral Home – West Chapel, 2702 Lincolnway West, South Bend, IN 46628. Friends may call on the family for one hour prior to service at the funeral home. Rev.

Michael W. Hetrick will officiate the service. Burial to follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in South Bend.
