June S. Koch, 85, of Tamaqua, Pa. passed away Friday, Feb. 1st at The Mahoning Valley Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

Born in Lehighton on July 26th 1933,, she was a daughter of the late Frederick & Dorothy (Hall) Mertz. Prior to retirement, she was employed as a garment worker for Peerless Mills, Lehighton and also worked as a child day care assistant in Lehighton. June was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Packerton.

She was a member of the Lehighton VFW Ladies Auxiliary, the Beaver Run Rod & Gun Club, & the Packerton Old Timers Club. Surviving is a daughter, Nancy J. wife of Eugene Taschler of Tamaqua, 2 sisters, Martine, wife of Barry Snyder of Lehighton, Geraldine Yehl of Packerton, 4 brothers, Ronald Mertz & wife Sarah of Packerton, Richard Mertz & companion Donna of Lehighton, Russell Mertz & companion Susan of Lehighton, Larry Mertz & companion Valerie of Lehighton, 5 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, nieces & nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Crystal Dorward, 2 sisters, Betty Moyer, Marlowe Hancharick, & a brother Gerald.

Funeral Services will be held on Wed. Feb. 6th at 11 a.m. at Zion Evangelical Luther Church, Pine Street (Packerton) Lehighton with SALM Emma Weaver officiating.

Call 10-11 a.m. in the church. Interment in Packerton Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to the church at 18235.
