Kay Trout passed away on January 27, 2019, in Provo, Utah. He was born January 17, 1932 in Covina, CA to Joseph Robert Trout and Stella May Anderson. Kay grew up in various parts of Los Angeles County in California.

His father worked for the LA County Forestry Division (forerunner of the LA County Fire Department). Among the places Kay lived growing up he talked frequently about Glendora and Castaic. Kay graduated from William S. Hart High School in Newhall, California in 1950.

He worked for a short time for LA County Fire Department, and then enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1951. He served in the Korean War with the 1st Tank Battalion, 1st Marine Division. Returning to California after the war in 1953, Kay met Marian Sylvia Herran.

They dated, were engaged, and on July 2, 1954 they were married in San Fernando, California. Shortly after getting married, Kay joined the LA County Fire Department where he worked until his retirement in 1988. Kay and Marian bought their first home in 1955 in the town of Sylmar California where they lived until 1988.

While living in Sylmar, they raised their three sons Mike (1955), Rick (1957), and Ken (1958). While in Sylmar, Kay joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in 1966. In June 1969 he was sealed to his wife Marian and their three sons for time and all eternity in the Los Angeles Temple.

Kay was very active in the LDS church, serving in many leadership positions, including Bishop. He was also heavily involved in scouting, and served as Scout Master for several years. Kay and Marian also served in the Los Angeles Temple as ordinance workers.

In 1988 they moved and bought their second home in Murrieta, California where they lived until October 2017. While living in Murrieta, Kay was active in the LDS church and served as an Ordinance Worker along with Marian in the San Diego Temple. It was during this time that Kay and Marian were called in 1995 and served 18 months in the Alabama Birmingham Mission.

In October 2017 Kay and Marian moved to Provo, Utah, and lived there until the time of his passing, being surrounded by his family. Kay enjoyed playing golf, camping model building, model railroad building, and NASCAR. Kay was proceeded in death by his wife, Marian, of almost 64 years; his parents Joseph and Stella Trout; and his brother, Sam Trout.

He is survived by his sons Mike (Bonnie), Riverside CA; Rick (Linda), Highland UT; Ken (Cyndi), Georgetown TX; brother-in-law Jim Herran (Cheryl), sister-in-law Joan Trout, 1 nephew, 3 nieces, 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Until we meet again, Sempre Fi. A memorial service for Kay will be held February 2, 2019 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints chapel located at 555 E. 3230 N., Provo, Utah.

Viewing will be from 9:30 to 10:45 am. Memorial Services will be from 11 am to 12 pm.
