Kandy Ann Trees, 61, of Knightstown, passed away Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born April 26, 1957 in Martinsville. Kandy was employed at Bill & Randy’s Barber Shop in Greenwood, retiring in 2016 after 20 years of service.
She loved her dog, Angus and enjoyed cooking, gardening, decorating, traveling and shopping. A highlight of her life was traveling to Ireland with her mother in 2006. She also loved spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her mother, Martha Mahaffey of Beech Grove; two sons, Jimmy Helton of Greenfield and Jason Helton of Bloomington; grandchildren, James Dean Helton (Keygan Gwinn), Dakota Lee Helton (Shadey Barnes), Clayre Helton, LouAnn Helton, Chelsea Helton and Noah Helton; brothers, Robert Smith of Indianapolis and Steven Smith (Palmer Sessel) of San Francisco; sister, Marcy (Chuck) Crider of Knightstown; half sisters, Melissa, Deana and Shelly; six nieces and nephews, Chris, Matt, Charlie, Cassandra, Courtney and Ashley. She was preceded in death by her father, Gearldean Welcher; two brothers, Bryan Smith and Gordon Smith; and a nephew, Jonathan Kent. A memorial service will be held Sunday, March 17, 2019 in Greenfield.
