Obituary for Katherine Hairston Monday’s child is fair of face. Katherine Denese Hairston was placed in the loving arms of her parents the late Rosay E Loper and N. H. Hairston on Monday, September 1, 1957 at the Union Hospital of Cecil County, (nee Elkton Hospital). She left this Earthly domain on Sunday July 8, 2018.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brothers Robert M. Hairston, and Oliver R. Loper, a nephew Bryan O. Carpenter, a niece Melisa R. Moore Stewart, and a dear and special friend Martha P. Dew. Katherine was raised in Charlestown, Cecil County, MD where she spent most of her life except for a few years in Havre de Grace, MD. She was educated in the Cecil County Public School System, graduating from North East High School in 1975, and Cecil Community College 1994 with an AA in nursing.

Katherine received her BSN 2010 in from Wilmington University, New Castle, DE. Her full-time nursing career spanned nearly 40-years, retiring April 2015 with 33-years of service from the Veterans Administration Maryland Health Care System, Perry Point, MD as a Nurse Manager. Katherine was baptized in 1973 at the Mt.

Carmel Baptist Church, North East, MD under the Pastorate of late Rev. William T. Dupree. Memories were made with her precious daughter and only child, Deidre L. Hairston, North East, MD, sisters Laurabelle E. (James) Hope, Newark, DE.

, Dorthy A. Newton, North East, MD, a brother Kevin A. (Antoinette Holmes) Hairston, Charlestown, MD. Two nieces Lorie A (Daniel) and their children, great-niece/godchild Kayla Jackson, Olivia and Joseph (JD) Redivo, Phoenix AZ, Tracey M. (Hussam) and their children Zoe and Tamer (TJ)El Fiki, Glendale, AZ; 3 nephews Gene A (Jennifer O’Bryan) and their children Claire and Tyler Thompson, Richmond Hill, GA. Shane and his children Marley and Goliath Hairston, New Castle, DE.

, Nephew/godchild Norman (Mariah Katona-Little) and their children Ahmyah, Aria, and Ava Little, Townsend, DE. A cousin, Doretha Manuel Green from whom she anticipated her weekly Sunday calls. Her companion with whom potential memories were cut short, Marvin L. Brakefield, New Castle, DE.

As was her desire, she will be cremated.
