Obituary for Katherine Louise Owens Hatchell Katherine Louise Owens Hatchell, 96, of Spartanburg, SC, died Thursday, June 21, 2018, at Mary Black Memorial Hospital. Born September 1, 1921, in Pacolet, SC, she was a daughter of the late Will and Ida Belle Weathers Owens and wife for 57 years of the late Durwood Frank Hatchell. Mrs. Hatchell retired from Wofford College in 1982 after 36 years of service.

After her family, Wofford was the love of her family’s life. She was a lifetime member of Gravely Memorial United Methodist Church and a member of the Young at Heart. Survivors include her son, Michael Hatchell (Penny); grandson, Joshua Hatchell (Melissa) all of Spartanburg, SC; granddaughter, Lacey Lipe of Charleston, SC; great-grandson, Dylan Lipe of Walterboro, SC; and sisters, Betty Joint of Summerville, SC and Christine Lawson of Union, SC.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a sister, Margaret Cooper, and brothers, Leroy Owens and Buford Owens. Visitation will be 12:30-1:30 PM Monday, June 25, 2018, at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307. Graveside services will follow at 2:00 PM in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307, conducted by The Rev.

Scott Gilmer and Elder Gwendolyn Means. Memorials may be made to Gravely United Methodist Church, 7400 Lone Oak Boulevard Spartanburg, SC 29303. The family will be at the home, Sunday, June 24, 2018, from 10:00 AM until 6:00 PM.
