Katherine Mamrosch , October 20, 1919 — April 23, 2018

Mrs. Katherine Mamrosch, 98, a resident of Valley Health Services in Herkimer, and formerly of 2779 State Rte. 29 Dolgeville, passed away peacefully, on Monday evening April 23, 2018, at Valley Health. At the time of her passing her son and daughter- in- law were at her side, with their love and support.

She was born in Jermyn, Pennsylvania, on October 20, 1919, the daughter of the John and Julia (Childo) Slenska. Katherine was united in marriage to Edmund Mamrosch, on October 31, 1949 in Herkimer, New York. Mr. Mamrosch predeceased her on May 15, 1994.

Prior to moving to the Dolgeville area, she was employed at Derby Sportswear of Herkimer, and then at Dawson Shoe Company of Dolgeville. She continued working when Dawson’s closed for the Daniel Green Company of Dolgeville for over 23 years. Katherine enjoyed the Love of her family and home, along with her several cats and dogs for many years.

She and her husband use to take rides throughout the country side, especially during the fall season. Prior to being a resident of Valley Health, she resided at Mohawk Homestead for 3 years and was very thankful for her caregiver Susan and the entire staff, who treated her with respect, love and dignity. She is survived by her beloved son and his wife, Edmund and Maryanne Mamrosch, who resided next to her, several nieces and Nephews, including Sharon Plunkett of Utica and Robert Wieliczka of Ilion.

In addition, she has a sister in law Merle Mamrosch of Dolgeville. She was predeceased by her brothers Steven, Mike, Basil and Pete Slenska and her sisters Julia Wieliczka and Anna Reguci. Funeral services will be held Friday April 27, 2018 at 11 AM at St. Peter & Paul Russian Orthodox Church, East Main Street in East Herkimer.

Very Rev. Thaddeus Franta, will celebrate. Burial will follow in St. Peter & Paul Cemetery in East Herkimer.

Calling hours will be at the Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service (next to NBT Bank), 527 East Albany Street in Herkimer 315-866-1500, from 4-7 PM on Thursday April 26, 2018. Edmund and Mary Ann would like to acknowledge a Special Thanks to Nadine and Marilyn and the entire staff of Valley Health Services for the care and compassion shown to Katherine while she was resident there. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Roberts Funeral Home, 3 Faville Ave.
