Kathleen A. Kato, age 72 years, died Monday, December 10, 2018 at McLaren-Bay Region with her family by her side. She was born on October 27, 1946 to the late Charles and Mildred (Vandenboom) Pawlak. Kathy graduated from Bay City Central High School Class of 1963.

She was a member of All Saints Parish (St. James Church) and volunteered at the Bay Area Agency on Aging. Kathy retired from the Bay City Public Schools after many years of service. She enjoyed cooking, knitting, sewing, traveling… Read More » and gardening.

Kathy enjoyed spending time with her family and attending numerous activities of her children and grandchildren. On November 27, 1965, Kathy married Thomas Kato at St. James Catholic Church. Tom survives her along with their three children: Brian (Debra) Kato, Lynn Kato and Mark (Danielle) Kato, all of Bay City; five grandchildren: Justin, Emily, Charlie, Lillian and Timothy “T.J.”; seven siblings: Barb (Ray) Skrzypczak, Judy (Lary) Bukowski, Char (Fred) Kanicki, Rick (Wendy) Pawlak, Ken (Karen) Pawlak, Bob Pawlak and Dennis (Bonnie) Pawlak; sisters-in-law: Jeanne (Dennis) Meyer, Margaret Preston and Karen (Brad) Gougeon; several nieces and nephews.

Kathy was preceded in death by her infant son, Jeffrey, in-laws, John and Mary Kato; brother-in-law, Al Preston. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated Friday, December 14, 2018 at 5:00 PM at the W. A. Trahan Funeral Chapel. Fr.

Jose Maria Cabrera will preside. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Bay City Central High School Booster Club. Visiting with the family will be Friday from 12:00 PM until the time of the service.
