Obituary for Kathleen Fiona Sweeney Kathleen Fiona Sweeney passed away at her home in Euless, TX, on September 5, 2018. She was born in Houston on August 30, 1949, the eldest child of David and Beverly Sweeney. She grew up in Dallas and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1967.

Nicknamed “Kat”, she and her late husband, Evan, loved and cared for numerous cats throughout their lives. She retired from a career that spanned more than 25 years at American Airlines to spend time with her beloved husband and cats. Kathy always entered any activity full force and was an accomplished bowler, ice skater, Star Trek lover, conspiracy theory enthusiast and harbored a fierce love for her family and friends.

She was involved with numerous Star Trek clubs and was very proud of her times as Star-ship Commander. Recently, she had taken an interest in genealogy and became a charter member of the Lone Star chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy. Kathy had a unique and quirky sense of humor and thoroughly enjoyed her role as “Big Wissie” to her siblings and “Aunt Wackie” to her many nephews and niece as she smothered them with sloppy kisses and out of this world tales of extra-terrestrials.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Evan Cater Richards III, and her parents. She is survived by her sisters; Eileen Sweeney Wade, Colleen Sweeney Steblein and Maureen Sweeney Holloway; and brother, David Forsyth Sweeney. She will be greatly missed by her family, extended family and many, many friends.
