Obituary for Kathleen Therese Keene Kathleen Therese MacAulay Keene, 65, of Mount Pleasant, passed away Friday morning after a short but fierce battle with the Big C. She is and forever will be dearly missed by her sons Robert and Matthew, daughters-in-law Anndenise and Jennifer, and her siblings Mike, Bill, Judy, Maureen, Sean, Neil and Brian, and all those that knew and loved her. She is predeceased by her brothers Tommy and Leo. Kathy was born in Kansas City, Missouri.
With a sense of adventure, she explored life in Colorado, Florida, Nebraska, Alaska, and finally found her home in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. She married Robert Keene in 1979. As a radio DJ, people all across Charleston heard her wonderful voice.
As a business owner, she brought joy and laughter to the families on the beach. As a dispatcher for Charleston county, she kept her community safe. Her children became her entire world as soon as they were born, and her grandchildren the sun in her sky.
As a friend, she was a warm feeling of comfort, caring and safety. As a mom, she gave unwavering support and encouragement. As a grandmother, she loved and spoiled and educated.
She was an advocate for all of those who suffered, having suffered and succeeded significantly during her own life. Kathy was the one to say you could, when everyone else said you couldn’t and then she would help you do it. Although some would say stubborn, Kathy was strong willed and fought for what she believed in.
